Prague

Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic. It is the largest city with a population of 1.250.000 inhabitants. Due to its excellent geographic location, it is the political, cultural and financial centre of the country.

Prague is accessible by air, train and bus:

• By Air:“Vaclav Havel” Airport is located in the northwest of Prague, at a distance of 17 km from the centre of the city. There is regular connection from the airport to the centre, by local buses and taxis.
• By Rail:The Czech Republic boasts one of the best rail networks in Europe, connecting the most distant areas with the larger cities. Moreover, there are connections to major European cities, such as Vienna, Munich and Berlin. The itineraries are operated either by high speed trains or by regular trains which are more inexpensive.
• By Bus:Prague is interconnected with several European cities, with regular weekly connections. The bus terminals are located close to metro stations.

For the most convenient transportation within the city, there is the tram, the bus and the metro. There are frequent and very well scheduled connections in order to accommodate a large part of commuters during the day.

Prague is the centre of the Czech Republic, where one can discover and be acquainted with the history and the culture of the Czechs. Through its castles, the old town, the museums and the music scenes, the theatres, the bars and night clubs, one can realize the harmonious blend of the past and the present.

STUDENTS’ COST OF LIVING IN PRAGUE

A sum of approx. €300/ month (approx. 8.000 CZK) can cover the following basic expenses:

• Meals:The University has a restaurant where students can enjoy a full meal at a price of €2-€5.
• Transportation:The student’s pass for the public means of transport costs 260 CZK or €10/ month.
• Perosnal expenses

Accommodation: Accommodation costs depend on the size and the location of the house. The apartments that are closer to the University premises are more expensive. The monthly rent for a studio in Prague is around €450- €550. For a 2-room apartment, with a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom, the monthly rent is around €500- €800. The rate includes heating, water, electricity bills. Some apartments can be fully or partly furnished. The rate doesn’t include internet fees. In the Czech Republic there are rooms within the University Hall of Residence which are not recommended by our agency.
